SAN JOSE, CA — JUNE 21, 2010 — OptoElectronix today announced its unique LED-based LightDisc™ module that enables luminaire manufacturers to accelerate adoption of low-power solid-state lighting (SSL) for commercial and consumer light fixtures. It delivers the same light output as a 90-watt incandescent bulb at just one-third the power and has a 50,000-hour life. It includes a fully integrated power supply for quick connection to light fixtures.

OptoElectronix Announces a Five-Year Warranty on All LED Universal Light Engine Products

SAN JOSE, CA—August 5, 2009—OptoElectronix, a leading LED light engine manufacturer, today announced a five-year (or 35,000-hour, whichever comes first) warranty on their complete line of LED Universal Light Engine™ products. These light engines provide full plug-and-play functionality, making it simple for designers to incorporate solid-state lighting into a wide variety of existing and new luminaires. OptoElectronix Universal Light Engines include the LED, a thermal network, optics, the electronic driving system for the LEDs, and a range of control functions. The warranty is effective as of August 1, 2009.

OptoElectronix Joins CLTC Affiliate Program
Public-Private Partnership to Drive Broad LED Adoption
SAN JOSE, CA—JULY 16, 2009—OptoElectronix, a leading LED light engine manufacturer, today announced that it has become an affiliate of the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) at UC Davis. CLTC was created to drive the adoption and commercialization of energy-efficient lighting technologies including solid-state lighting (SSL). Through the CLTC affiliation, OptoElectronix will join other lighting innovators, such as OSRAM and Philips, to improve the efficacy of LED luminaires, bring performance and reliability standardization to LED lighting, and drive costs down. Success in these areas will make LED lighting practical, reducing energy use and lowering maintenance costs.

The ULE4000 LightBlox™ module is a self-contained, plug-and-play LED light engine that includes the LED, integrated power supply, thermal management, proprietary control circuitry, and optics. It is available in warm white or cool white light. Its fully integrated 120-volt power supply means installing a ULE4000 light fixture is as simple as connecting two leads and the ground wire to an electrical junction box. Light fixture manufacturers can replace traditional ballast, sockets and bulbs with just one part.

A First in LEDs for Illumination:
New 180-Degree LED Floodlights Deliver up to 60-Watt Light Equivalent with 75-Percent Energy Savings

SAN JOSE, CA—APRIL 15, 2009—OptoElectronix today announced a breakthrough in the use of LEDs for illumination: a new series of small, highly efficient, 180-degree LED modules ideal for retail display lighting, appliances, and task lights. The round, 60mm (2.35-inch) diameter, aluminum modules are precisely engineered for optimal thermal management. The ULE21VW1-F family integrates the LED, lens, and electronics, and are rated for 50,000 hours. The modules are designed to flush mount through a standard 44.5mm (1.75-inch) mounting hole with three screws, and the flange and lens are only 4mm (0.16 inches) thick.

Charlie has spent the last several years with TSI selling to large OEM lighting customers and has been heavily involved in driving the transition to LED-based lighting.
